Leia’s and Luke’s Themes

I hadn’t realized it until the very cool Star Wars: Clone Wars series prompted me to watch Revenge of the Sith one more time, but at the end of the movie, when Leia is shown in the hands of her adoptive parents on Alderaan, and when Obi-Wan Kenobi delivers Luke to his Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru on Tatooine, the music during those respective scenes is two of the Star Wars themes we’ve known since childhood — and it occurred to me that those familiar strains may have been the theme music for Leia and Luke all along.

Maybe everybody else in the galaxy already knew this? Check it out below starting at 1:48 for Leia and 2:19 for Luke.

I don’t know if those were intended to be Luke and Leia’s themes, but I think I recall hearing the “Leia theme” played in one of the later scenes with Leia (on Endor) in RotJ.

It’s also good to know that I’m not the only one who thinks Clone Wars is cool. BTW, have you seen the trailers for the upcoming (and possibly, already released?) Star Wars: The Old Republic video game? Those few minutes of film are better rendered than the prequels!

I don’t know about “everyone else in the galaxy”, but I think most of us musicians knew. 🙂

The Old Republic looks really cool, I hope it lives up to the hype. It’s being made by Bioware, they haven’t made a bad game yet.

Their promotional trailers are amazing and the gameplay demos looked nearly as good.

(And no, it isn’t released quite yet.)
