No single technology is the answer.

RFID is fine as long as it is backed up by something like an eight digit PIN code or biometric key. Unfortunately all that would create is an even more massive government to handle the data.

It is not a problem that other people know who you are, it is a problem when other people know enough about you to steal your identity.

Thanks for the information.

The problem with this is that the government really isn’t concerned about whether they make it easy to steal your identity. If the government or credit providers were exceedingly concerned with identity theft they would have fixed the problem long ago.

Ever tried reporting someone counterfeiting your checks to the local police? How about identity theft? They really aren’t concerned. There are plenty of non-violent crimes our police will fight aggressively from the grassroots officers to the federal level. Identity theft isn’t one of them.

If we judge our law enforcement and government by deeds rather than words, logic suggests that they really don’t see identity theft as a problem.

On another topic, what are those softly glowing green numbers in the upper right hand corner of each comment? ID numbers? Are you trying to keep track of us?
