Fairly blatant canceling of the Second Amendment. While the 5-mile rule might be defeated as too extreme, the progenitors of this babble will just come back with a two-mile or a one-mile.

This is one of those “no-compromise” issues. It’s NOT the same as a “drug-free zone” around a school. Drugs are illegal while keeping and bearing arms is not (except in places where boneheaded citizens have already allowed their 2A rights to be canceled), but you watch, this suggestion will be favorably compared to drug-free zones (despite the fact that the DFZs have not been proven to reduce drug use among kids at all).

Myself, I wouldn’t waste any time with this until I see encoded Legislation.

One thing I WOULD do, however, is start keeping a tally of stupid Obama suggestions. Such a list, which is growing by the day, should have it’s rendering of his suggestions categorized as “un-Constitutional”, “Socialist” (that will probably be 100% of them), or just plain crazy.

He will have his stump speech, we can have his list of illegal, unworkable bulltwaddle to wave back at him.
