Compare & Contrast: Open Carry

In California, open carry is allowed in unincorporated areas of many counties. So some intrepid souls are doing just that.

Now compare, via Kevin, a Connecticut fellow’s experience with open carry (full-auto, no less) in Israel. The reaction of the New York couple is priceless.

Erp. After looking at the laws, I know it is legal, but those people have big honkin’ brass ones. Best of luck to them, and I certainly hope it raises awareness and interest, but I am not sure I would try such a thing (assuming I lived somewhere where one could) in this state.

I made my second trip to Israel in June and spent several days in Tel Aviv. I saw lots of young men and (hot Ladies) all with auto shooters. The men employees at the hotel all were carrying inside the waistband holsters. Crossing into Jordan and Egypt are some serious checkpoints. There is very little street crime in Israel wherever you go. Most of the people are warm and friendly. After leaving Israel and entering Egypt we picked up the required armed guard at the border to continue on to Cairo. I felt safer in Israel than in Dallas TX, but I sure would have liked my old pistol in Egypt.

Its legal to open carry in Washington State. I read on a website like opencarry.org about people doing it in Washington even at places like shopping malls.

You can open carry almost anywhere, but expect to get harrased at every turn by police and citizens alike.
