Last year, immediately after my first Boomershoot, I started making plans for the next one. This seems to be a common practice among attendees. At some level, Boomershoot is the highlight of any given year.

For my part, I made bed & breakfast reservations a year ahead of time, put money down on a 700-yard Boomer rifle (the Xmas Weatherby), hunted around for a suitable canopy, and convinced my wife to come along in 2006, because Gene Econ’s clinic and Joe Huffman’s Boomershoot were the most fun I’d had all year, and I wanted her to share that. Not to mention that she likes traveling through pretty country, and the drive from Boise to Orofino is through country that, IMHO, is more visually stunning than most of Bavaria.

A couple of days ago, a critical business transaction we were trying to nail down this week got postponed for a variety of reasons. It’s still critical though. Suffice it to say that instead of Boomershoot and Idaho, on April 27th - 30th I’m going to be in (yuck) Ft. Lauderdale, finalizing this deal. I hate Florida for all sorts of reasons, and this is one more reason to add to the pile.

Gene and Joe accepted my cancellations at this late date with grace and good humor. Be aware that the Southwest Room at Trib’s Place (the one with the attached bathroom) is now open for some lucky Boomershooter to reserve. Don’t try to get it for 2007, I’ve already put in my dibs!
