QOTD

“The more you can increase the fear of drugs and crime and welfare mothers and immigrants and aliens and poverty and all sorts of things, the more you control people. Make them hate each other. Be frightened of each other and think that the other is stealing from them. If you do that you can control people.” – Noam Chomsky

Add in terrorists, guns, food, chemicals, strangers, climate change (thanks Kevin), and corporations, and you get nearly everything our politicians use to control us.

I’ve read a bit of Chomsky, and pretty much every word of it is all about how the US government is the most purely and Satanically evil entity since the Nazis, and not infrequently more so. Oh, and the Jews control it.

Yeah, he knows a thing or two about the fear business.

  2. Robb Allen says:

and think that the other is stealing from them

    Unfortunately, that part is true.

The other is stealing from me. My taxes are at theft levels now as I am not receiving goods or services proportionate to my taxation.

All politicians use fear. The left uses the fear of the poor and downtrodden dying by the millions in the gutters of the affluent streets, the right uses the fear of terrorism (which I’m ashamed to admit I bought into for a brief while, but now couldn’t give a fuck about). Both are lying to achieve their goals.

Chompsky is a flaming bag of hypocritical shit when it comes to bitching about fear being used as a control method. Doesn’t mean that he’s wrong here, though.

“The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.”
    -H. L. Mencken

  4. Kevin Baker says:

    You forgot “climate change.”

  5. @#$&! You are right Kevin, I did, thanks!
