Sometimes I wonder…

Why everything has to be about “Green” or “Carbon Offsets” or other Eco-buzzwords?  Why can’t a group just donate money to plant trees because planting trees are nice, or because Seattle has a problem with assholes who damage and destroy trees that are not on their property (sorry buddy, I know that tree is now spoiling that view you paid for, but maybe you should have noticed the tree when you bought the place, or when it was planted, I mean, trees grow up, it’s what they do).

I don’t work to encourage community gardens so people can grow organic veggies and feel green, I do it so urban dwellers can enjoy growing food.  If they feel green about it, that’s fine, I don’t really care.

It’s “The Smug”. The self righteous air pollution that hovers around those who are convinced that they are superior by their misguided efforts to save Gaia…

Speaking of green smug, I stopped in a Starbucks to take a leak and was blow away (literally) by the hurricane force hand dryer, which had a label boasting how it saved trees by eliminating paper towels. Then I thought that if we still used paper towels it would be profitable to plant paper pulp trees and thus convert more horrible carbon dioxide to oxygen. Additionally the electricity for the blow dryer wouldn’t need to be generated by the coal burning power plant. Jobs planting the trees, harvesting, and hauling them to the pulp mill, plus making the paper and turning it into towels would help the unemployed. I’m thinking too much again!!!

Geeze, louise. I thought it was obvious. Progressives, Socialists, and the rest of our betters want to tell us to do things their way not because they think their way is better, they really don’t care. All they want is control. What you are made to do is not relevant, that it is mandatory is.
