So I wake up yesterday afternoon and feel like crap. Eh, I go to work anyway. I don’t deal with that many people and the ones I do deal with I can warn to stay away lest they get whatever it was I had.
Work is going along swimmingly until around midnight when I find that I cannot continue to work without blasting the AC in the office.
Now, we were under a snow advisory last night here in Seattle (/sarcasm/ and what a frightful venture that was, let me tell you /sarcasm/) so you can imagine the looks on people’s faces when they walk into my area and it is a right 45 degrees and windy in there!
At around 0530, I get home and attempt to go to sleep only to find that no position past 100% vertical allows me to breath. Crap!
Off to the physician’s office I go to wait as one of those without an appointment. An hour later and I’m being told to breath heavy, suck on this here nebulizer and keep spitting up as much of that crap as you can until we can get you in for a chest x-ray.
X-ray done and pneumonia was the case that they gave me, along with a half a dozen prescriptions. Let’s see: two different types of vapor inhalers, some weird steroid liquid, a large bottle of antibiotics, a weird sort of powder shooter inhaler type thing, and, my personal favorite, liquid vicadin with codine.
I have called my work and given them the bad news that I’ll be home for at least the next three days trying not to drown in my own bodily fluids and to not expect me in until maybe Friday, possibly Monday.
I just wish I could enjoy this new found time off, but this shit hurts! I’ve coughed so much that my kidney panels are sore, not to mention that I can’t get an appetite up to eat anything.
But hey, at least you’ll have me here! And you never know what will happen when all of these prescriptions interact!
